Dallas Zoo Conservation, Education and Science   Every Day Is a Field Trip at Dallas Zoo's New Preschool and Spring Break Camp Check in to the Dallas Zoo's Preschool and Spring Break Camp classes, which offer unique educational opportunities for children who love animals. Nature Tykes and A-Zoo Preschool Safari are 12-week programs for children ages 3 to 5. The first-ever Spring Break Camp at the Dallas Zoo is available for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Preschool programs follow early-childhood curriculum guidelines for Texas TEKS and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and include goals for the Council for Environmental Education. Children develop skills in language, literacy, phonemic awareness, creative arts, problem solving, critical thinking, mathematical skills, scientific thinking and observation, and cooperation and social skills. Each day students participate in group discussions, songs, stories, games, art projects, math, and literacy activities about the live animal visitor they will meet in the classroom. They will take a tour in the Zoo and receive a nutritional snack. The three-hour classes are offered one day per week, and are limited to 20 students led by two certified teachers per class. Cost for the 12-week series is $270 for Dallas Zoological Society members and $300 for non-members. Individual weekly sessions are available. Exhibits, Imax, Children's Museum and more!   The Museum of Nature & Science is the result of a 2006 merging, unlike any in the nation, of three cultural institutions " the Dallas Museum of Natural History (est. 1936), The Science Place (est. 1946) and the Dallas Childrens Museum (est. 1995). The combination of the Dallas Museum of Natural History and the Science Place was completed in June of 2006. The Childrens Museum combination was completed the following October.
